NFA & Suppressors · SOT Dealer
Foxhound Firearms is an SOT / NFA-capable dealer — so you can buy or transfer suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and other NFA items right here in Maitland, with the paperwork handled by people who do it every week.
Suppressors are legal to own in Florida, and the purchase runs through this federal process. Ask us for current ATF approval times when you file.
What is NFA?
Certain firearms and accessories — suppressors (silencers), short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns, and others — are regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA). Buying or transferring them requires an ATF process, a tax stamp, and a licensed dealer with the right status.
That’s us. Foxhound holds SOT status, which means we’re set up to sell and receive NFA items and to walk you through the filing so it’s done correctly the first time. Suppressors are legal to own in Florida, and the process is far simpler than most people expect when a dealer handles it with you.
The process
Choose the can for your caliber and use — we’ll help you match it to your setup, or transfer one you already bought.
We help you complete the ATF Form 4 (transfer) through eForms. The tax stamp for suppressors has been $0 since January 1, 2026, but the Form 4 and ATF approval still apply. Individual or trust — we’ll explain the difference.
The suppressor stays secured with us while the ATF processes the application. Electronic filing has cut wait times dramatically versus the old paper days.
Once approved, you come in, we complete the transfer, and it’s yours to enjoy.

Wait times vary, but electronic filing (eForms) has shortened them dramatically compared to the old paper process. We’ll give you a current estimate when you file with us.
Not necessarily. Many people file as an individual; others use an NFA trust for shared use or estate planning. We’ll explain the trade-offs so you can choose what fits.
Yes — that’s a common reason people come to us. The dealer or seller ships it to Foxhound, and we handle the Form 4 transfer to you.
Yes. Our gunsmiths thread barrels and install muzzle devices in-house, so you can get set up for a can in one place. See our barrel & sight work page.
Yes, with the correct ATF filing (a Form 1 for a build). We’ll walk you through what’s required before you cut anything.
Florida law applies an up-to-3-business-day waiting period on firearm purchases, including transfers. Holders of a valid Florida Concealed Weapon License are generally exempt. We walk every buyer through exactly what applies to them.
