Bought a firearm online or from out of state? Have it shipped to Foxhound Firearms and we’ll handle the transfer the right way — a flat $25 for handguns or long guns, honest paperwork, and no runaround. Federally licensed FFL right here in Maitland.
At Foxhound Firearms in Maitland, just north of Orlando, a standard FFL transfer is a flat $25 for a rifle, pistol or shotgun. Suppressor transfers are $85, and SBR, SBS and machine gun transfers are $150. Have the seller ship to us, then bring a valid ID and we run the background check in person.
What is an FFL transfer?
When you buy a gun online — from GunBroker, an out-of-state shop, or a friend across the country — federal law says it can’t ship straight to your door. It has to go to a licensed dealer (an FFL) near you, who verifies your eligibility and completes the transfer in person.
That’s where we come in. Foxhound Firearms is a federally licensed dealer in Maitland, and receiving your online purchase is one of the most common things we do. You send us the item, we log it in, you come by with your ID, we run the background check, and you walk out with your firearm — usually in one quick visit. No membership, no pressure to buy anything else, and a flat $25 fee whether it’s a pistol or a rifle.
The process
Purchase online or from any out-of-state seller. At checkout they’ll ask for your receiving dealer’s FFL.
Give the seller our name and address — Foxhound Firearms, 131 Candace Dr, Maitland, FL 32751 — or call us at (321) 316-4385 and we’ll send our FFL directly to them.
Your firearm ships to us. We inspect it, log it into our bound book, and text or call you the moment it’s ready to pick up.
Bring a valid Florida driver’s license or ID. You’ll fill out the ATF Form 4473 and we run the background check right at the counter.
Once you’re cleared and any Florida waiting period is satisfied, the firearm is yours. Simple, legal, done.

Common questions
A flat $25 for a handgun or a long gun. If you have more than one firearm coming in the same visit, call us at (321) 316-4385 for a discounted multi-item rate.
Florida law imposes up to a 3-day waiting period on firearm purchases, including transfers, measured in business days. There are exemptions — for example, holders of a valid Florida Concealed Weapon License are generally exempt. We’ll tell you exactly what applies when you come in.
Yes. Federal law requires that a firearm sold across state lines go through an FFL in the buyer’s state. The out-of-state seller ships it to us, and we complete the transfer to you here in Maitland with the standard background check.
To take home a handgun, yes — federal law requires handgun buyers to receive them in their state of residence. Long guns are more flexible, but out-of-state buyers are generally transferred through an FFL in their own home state. Bring a valid Florida ID showing your current address.
A valid, unexpired Florida driver’s license or state ID with your current address. If the address is outdated, bring a supporting document (like a vehicle registration) showing your current Florida address. You’ll fill out ATF Form 4473 at the counter.
We log your item into our bound book the day it arrives and contact you right away by phone or text. You don’t need an appointment to pick up during business hours (Mon–Fri, 10am–6pm), though a quick call ahead never hurts.
Occasionally NICS returns a “delayed” status rather than an immediate proceed. If that happens we’ll hold your firearm securely and let you know as soon as we’re cleared to release it. There’s no extra charge for a standard delay.
Yes. Foxhound is an SOT/NFA-capable dealer, so suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and other NFA items can be transferred through us. See our NFA & suppressors page for how that process works.
Both. We’re a full gun shop with handguns, rifles, shotguns, ammo, and accessories, plus on-site gunsmithing and Cerakote. Browse the shop or stop in.
